BIOGRAPHY

Piara Fernandes is a Full Professor at the Federal Institute of Santa Catarina, where he leads the Research Group on Electric Energy Systems. His career spans research, teaching, and consultancy in electricity markets, energy regulation, and sustainable power systems.

Piara has worked with industry and international partners, advancing projects on distributed generation, green hydrogen, and electromobility. He has also directed innovation initiatives and contributed as a consultant to Brazil’s electricity regulator, shaping policy and technical approaches to energy transition.
